SCVSEC Earns Level II VECCS Certification

The Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS) has granted SCVSEC Level II certification. SCVSEC is but the second veterinary facility in South Carolina to achieve certification.

VECCS defines the level II emergency and critical care facility as a 24-hour acute care facility with the medical staff, personnel, and training essential to provide emergent and critical patient care. It further requires that the facility be open to receive small animal emergency patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Other level II emergency and critical care facility requirements include a dedicated surgical preparation area and having items in stock such as canine packed red blood cells, feline Type A packed red blood cells, and other critical medical supplies and requirements.

“Level II VECCS certification validates all the preparation and hard work we’ve put in to provide our clients and their pets the best care possible anytime of day any day,” said Dr. Tracie Quick, DVM. “We do all we can to keep service and care as high as possible and accessible and this certification rewards our efforts.”

VECCS certifies veterinary facilities that provide emergency and critical patient care with the goals of raising the standard of care while increasing public and professional awareness of veterinary emergency and critical patient care.
